YPosition Type ManagementThis is a temporary position.We are seeking a passionate and skilled Digital Accessibility Specialist to join our Associate Experience Design team at Marriott International. Who is committed to human-centered design and advocating for inclusivity in every aspect of the digital product lifecycle. As a key member of our team, you will support in developing and implementing of a comprehensive accessibility strategy for our enterprise tools and associate-facing digital products. Your expertise will guide cross-functional teams in embedding accessibility principles and fostering a culture of accessibility throughout the design, development, and delivery of our associate tools.Key Responsibilities:
Human-Centered Accessibility Strategy : Production and execution of a human-centered accessibility strategy that aligns with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2) and other relevant standards. Ensure that accessibility is seamlessly integrated into all stages of the digital product development process for enterprise tools, focusing on creating experiences that are usable by the greatest number of people.
Comprehensive Accessibility Audits : Conduct in-depth accessibility audits for enterprise websites, web applications, and mobile apps using industry-standard tools and techniques (e.g., Axe, Lighthouse, WAVE). Identify accessibility barriers, prioritize remediation efforts, and develop clear, actionable remediation plans that empower teams to make products more inclusive and user-friendly for all.
Collaboration Across Teams : Partner with designers, engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to foster a shared commitment to inclusivity. Ensure that accessibility is incorporated early and throughout the design and development process, making it a core part of our enterprise tools and platform development.
Support Inclusive Design Features : Contribute towards the design and development of accessibility features that make digital products, especially enterprise tools, fully accessible. Advocate for inclusive design in every project and ensure that accessibility is not an afterthought but an integral part of the design process.
Advocate for Users with Disabilities : Champion the needs of users with disabilities and ensure their voices are heard in the design and development process. Work with teams to incorporate feedback from individuals with diverse abilities, ensuring that products are genuinely accessible and meet the needs of all users, including those with permanent, temporary, and situational disabilities.
Regulatory Compliance and Best Practices : Stay informed about the latest accessibility regulations, guidelines, and standards, such as WCAG 2.2, ADA and others. Ensure that all enterprise products meet these legal requirements and promote a culture of accessibility and inclusivity throughout the organization.
Designing for Scale and Accessibilit y: Bolster efforts to deliver accessible UX/UI design at scale, ensuring that inclusive design is embedded throughout our enterprise systems. Develop clear guidelines for designers and developers, empowering them to implement accessibility best practices in every aspect of their work, from prototypes to production.
Elevating Inclusivity Across the Organization : Advocate for accessibility within the organization, helping others understand its importance in creating inclusive, equitable digital experiences. Promote a culture of accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring all teams prioritize these values when designing, developing, and delivering products.
Continuous Learning & Advocacy : Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and best practices in inclusive design and accessibility technologies. Mentor cross-functional teams and provide ongoing training to enhance the organization’s accessibility expertise and capabilities.
Test for WCAG Compliance: Experience testing digital environments and experience using accessibility evaluation tools. Knowledge of how individuals with disabilities use assistive software.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Digital Design, Computer Science, Web Development, Human-Computer Interaction, Instructional Design, or a similar discipline.
Experience:
At least 2-4 years of experience in digital accessibility, with a focus on accessibility assessments, remediation strategies, and designing inclusive digital products.
Ability to demonstrate experience collaborating with UX/UI, product design, and design systems experts building digital, web, and/or mobile applications.
Proven track record of supporting implementation of inclusive digital products at scale, particularly for large-scale enterprise platforms and tools.
Experience in conducting comprehensive accessibility audits and creating remediation plans that drive change in both design and development practices.
Skills & Knowledge:
Deep understanding of accessibility standards like WCAG 2.2, ADA, and how to translate these into actionable design and front-end engineering solutions.
Expertise in testing digital content with assistive technologies (e.g., screen readers, voice recognition software, etc.).
Strong communication skills, with the ability to educate and collaborate with cross-functional teams on accessibility and inclusivity best practices.
Nice to Have:
Certifications such as CPACC (Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies) or Trusted Tester.
Proficiency in UX or UI
Proficiency in front-end web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to better collaborate with development teams.
