Job Summary

At Mad Science, we are having a BLAST! We pay you to have fun! Build and fly rockets, demonstrate lasers, explore the states of matter using dry ice, and help children create slime and other polymers. You will inspire the next generation of scientists through our innovative activities that show kids what science is really all about.

As a Mad Scientist camp lead, you will lead students through an inquiry-based discovery method involving instructor demonstrations, hands-on activities, and amazing take-home projects that will illustrate how science affects the world around us. Mad Science is the world's leading provider of fun science programs for elementary-aged children.

This is a semi-full-time position and is seasonal, starting June 17, 2024 (Monday-Friday during the camp season). Camps are full-day, from around 8am - 3:30pm, with additional after-care hours depending upon the location. Pay is hourly - including set-up and clean-up time. Starting pay is $25 per hour. ($50 signing bonus available after 30 days of work and another $50 bonus for completing the summer session)

We are currently looking for energetic individuals to join our growing team to conduct exciting science, engineering, and technology programs during the camp season. You do NOT need to be a certified teacher (although we love that!), we train you in the curriculum and provide all materials.

Responsibilities:

Facilitating day camps for children from rising 1st graders to 5th graders

Deliver high-energy, part entertainment, part education, hands-on programs

Drive to various locations from Southern Maine/New Hampshire up to Bath or Augusta (camp locations change weekly, not daily)

Enjoy teaching young children the art of science!

Attend paid training sessions at our office (some may be virtual).

Attend the mandatory Friday Staff Meeting every week (paid)/participate in assigned equipment exchanges.

Be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

Be on time for all scheduled activities.

Adhere to strict safety and cleanliness guidelines.

Qualifications:

Some experience working with groups of elementary-age (4-12) children (such as an afterschool teacher or camp counselor).

Must be available for full weeks at a time to be a lead camp instructor. It is critical that you are able to commit to the length of any given program to keep consistency for the children.

Must have a reliable car as you will be driving to locations in Maine and NH

All employees must: complete a DOJ/FBI background check that must come back clear

Maintain a fun, flexible, & outgoing personality!

Mad Science programming follows the school calendar and is presented year-round. This is rewarding work if it fits with your schedule and lifestyle.

We also provide great opportunities for growth for those with a great passion for what we do! Wish you could help with Sales? Office work? Let us know! We pride ourselves on our amazing team and great company culture.

Perks/Benefits

In addition to inspiring the next generation of scientists, we offer:

A sign-on bonus after your first month of teaching

Referral bonuses - share with your friends!

New session bonuses

On-going training/guidance
