TEACHER / NATURE EDUCATOR (Southern Maine) – Crooked Pines School is seeking an experienced and dedicated full time teacher to join our team in bringing forth high quality farm and forest school programming.
The ideal candidate should have experience in outdoor program leadership, naturalist skills, a strong understanding of child development, resiliency, creativity, good communication skills, and a willingness to work collaboratively. As a growing and thriving new project, Crooked Pines School seeks a dynamic candidate who is enthusiastic about the creation of excellence in a team atmosphere. This person will be responsible for delivering high quality programming, supporting homeschool learning, overseeing a teaching assistant, and observing and recording learning and growth that takes place both formally and informally.
Skills / Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in education, environmental science, outdoor education or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in outdoor education
Experience with farm-based and/or forest school learning
Training in risk assessment and ability to, in conjunction with teachers, create a learning environment that supports healthy risk taking while mitigating risk.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and maintain a positive solution-oriented mindset
Experience in outdoor or environmental education and sustainability. Understanding and passion for self-directed learning, experiential education and the mission of Crooked Pines School
Ability to work with others and support lead teacher with any and all responsibilities
