New Orleans based Civil Rights law firm seeks a full-time paralegal to start approximately March 1, 2025, in a temporary position expected to last approximately 1-3 months. Our current paralegal will be on paternity leave.
The paralegal's responsibilities would depend on experience and familiarity with legal work. At a minimum, the work would include:
Answering phones and conducting prospective client intakes;
Organization of PDF documents and pleadings;
Drafting decline letters and cover letters;
Obtaining materials (photos, documents, etc.) from prospective clients.
For a more experienced candidates, the work may also include:
E-filing documents;
Filing documents in state court;
Creating templates of responses to written discovery;
First pass at simple legal documents, to be finished by the attorneys (subpoenas, waiver of service of summons, etc.).
The position has a pay range from $20-30/hour depending on the applicant's experience.
This is a 100% in-person position in the New Orleans Bywater neighborhood. Free on street parking is available. Must love dogs.
