The Safety Employee is responsible for supporting the implementation and enforcement of safety programs and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. This role includes assisting with safety inspections, monitoring compliance with safety regulations, and participating in safety training and awareness activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Inspections and Audits:

o Assist in conducting regular safety inspections of work sites, equipment, and processes to identify and correct potential hazards.

o Monitor and document safety compliance, reporting any violations to the Safety Coordinator or HSE Manager.

o Participate in safety audits and assessments to ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations.

Safety Training and Education:

o Support the delivery of safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientations and refresher courses.

o Distribute safety literature, posters, and bulletins to promote awareness of safety practices.

o Assist in the coordination of safety meetings and toolbox talks.

Incident Response and Reporting:

o Respond to and assist in the investigation of workplace accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents.

o Help gather information for incident reports and ensure proper documentation is maintained.

o Follow up on corrective actions to prevent recurrence of incidents.

Regulatory Compliance:

o Assist in ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and other applicable safety standards.

o Maintain safety records, logs, and reports as required by company policies and regulatory agencies.

o Support the preparation for safety inspections by regulatory bodies.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Management:

o Ensure that employees have access to and are using the required PPE.

o Monitor the condition of PPE and arrange for replacement or repair as needed.

o Educate employees on the proper use, care, and storage of PPE.

Emergency Preparedness:

o Assist in the implementation of emergency response procedures, including evacuation plans and first aid protocols.

o Participate in emergency drills and ensure employees are aware of emergency exits and procedures.

o Maintain and inspect first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and other emergency equipment.

Safety Culture Promotion:

o Encourage safe work practices and behaviors among employees.

o Participate in safety committees and contribute ideas to improve workplace safety.

o Support safety initiatives and campaigns to foster a strong safety culture within the organization.

Qualifications:

Education:

o High school diploma or equivalent. Some college coursework in occupational safety, environmental science, or a related field is a plus.

Experience:

o 1-2 years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably in an industrial or construction setting.

o Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices.

Skills:

o Basic understanding of workplace safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA).

o Strong observational and problem-solving skills.

o Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

o Ability to work well in a team environment.

o Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Working Conditions:

Primarily work in the field, with regular visits to various job sites.

Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

May be exposed to varying weather conditions and potentially hazardous environments.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

May need to climb, kneel, and bend as part of inspection activities.
