Job DescriptionWoodward Resource Center, a State of Iowa Health & Human Services (HHS) facility, is seeking an Occupational Therapist 1 to join our team. This position works remotely with occasional overnight travel. We look forward to welcoming a dedicated professional into this opportunity to support intellectually disabled individuals in community-based homes.About Woodward Resource Center (WRC):At WRC, our mission is to prepare and support individuals to live in the community of their choice. We’re committed to providing quality care and support tailored to each individual's needs and aspirations.What You'll Do:This position will work to improve transition outcomes, enhance services provided in the community to individuals living with intellectual disability, expand comprehensive statewide access to support services, adapt approaches to health risk management and excellence in community, and increase awareness about, public confidence in, and use of coordinated care for individuals with intellectual disability. Your responsibilities will include:Promote Excellence in Care in partnership with Community Providers.Through WRC's Center of Excellence, HHS will strengthen community providers ability to mitigate health/safety risks and improve services by:-Conducting occupational therapy screenings and assessments.-Enhance and support occupational-related training activities for individuals as they live in the community.-Design and deliver competency-based training programs for staff to prevent regression or facilitate personal growth and development for individuals with occupational-related programs, self-care skill development, instructional activities for daily living, mental health and wellness, and community participation.-Assist individuals’ transition to alternative placements through on-site visitation and/or phone consultation.Reduce the need for long term ICF / IID services.Through WRC's Center of Excellence, HHS will provide enhanced resources and improve service delivery by:-Engaging and offering short-term assessment, stabilization, and initial skills development necessary for individuals with intellectual disabilities to be able to return to a less restrictive integrated setting in the community.-Recommending, designing, producing, and monitoring adaptive equipment to advance individuals’ independence and status in community living through evidence based best practice.Provide support to Community Providers through the following:-Develop and provide generalized training to community providers, as needed, including training to be conducted virtually.-Provide knowledge and recommendations within their clinical expertise, as needed.-Ensure quality trainings in each of their respective areas are written out with sufficiently individualized, stepped out tasks.-Provide training in-person/virtually, when requested, to community provider staff ensuring a competency-based approach with return demonstration/practice when possible, and if not appropriate to the subject/task, then a written test of competency.Must have Licensure as an Occupational Therapist as issued by the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners.
