Job DescriptionThe Iowa Department for the Blind (IDB) is seeking someone who is passionate about marketing, communication, and bringing people together. We have an excellent team of smart and supportive professionals and want to add another talented individual to our team. Strong candidates will be adept problem-solvers who love to learn new technology, have a “can do” attitude, and can communicate clearly with clients and employers about challenges and potential solutions. IDB is happy to provide training in the required blindness skill areas and blindness specific access technology to candidates who demonstrate the technical aptitude and communications skills required.Duties and responsibilities to include the following:
Maintains department brand image and identity including standards for logo use and signage.
Responsible for new staff photos and ids.
Creates and maintains library of pictures, video clips, audio clips, presentation templates and other
PR assets.
Creates videos and support webinars using software and digital technologies.
Scheduling tours and monitoring website requests.
Monitoring, organizing, and calendaring all agency outreach events.
Updates websites and social media platforms with approved content ensuring information aligns with the agency brand.
Plans and updates social media platforms and promotes agency programming on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and other social media platforms with approved content.
Writes and edits website and mobile application content; performs website updates and content development activities.
Updates and maintains agency intranet and other internal information resources.
Works closely with other members of the department to work cross-divisionally on communications and projects. Builds trust, collaboration, and innovation.
Creates and reviews articles, news releases, brochures, and other publications.
Designs informational material by taking photographs, prooing galley proofs, and producing brochures and other materials.
Essential functions of this position:
Media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods, including alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.
Structure and content of English language including meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
Time management and the ability to manage multiple long-term projects effectively.
