Read on and consider bringing your technical and procurement experiences to our team and make a difference in patient lives!The Lilly Development Procurement team supports late-stage development, clinical trials, and commercialization activities for Lilly’s R&D portfolio. This is accomplished by working closely with business partners to implement the sourcing and production strategy for the Bioprocess Research & Development, Device Delivery & Connected Systems and Synthetic Molecule Design & Development organizations which make up the Medicines Innovation Hub and Product Delivery.In this role, you will lead the sourcing process from strategy development and supplier selection through contract negotiations and ongoing relationship management. This role will coordinate and lead the sourcing process to enable competitive selection of suppliers, as well as use market knowledge and analysis to create a stronger and more agile supplier base for the assigned platforms & therapeutic areas. This individual will provide sourcing support for Development spend in a variety of categories, including analytical services, container closures, devices, drug product/substance manufacturing, equipment, printed packaging, and raw materials.Key Objectives:

Support Lilly’s molecule development requirements by working directly with Development leadership, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, Procurement, and other functions to advance progression of pipeline assets to meet corporate objectives.

Work with business partners to identify and support sourcing projects that reduce risk, timeline, or cost and add new value without sacrificing quality.

Lead and discuss terms of the supplier contracts and use contract knowledge to collaborate with business partners if issues or disputes arise.

Implement and contribute to development sourcing strategy consistent with strategic priorities of the business.

Lead the sourcing and supplier selection process by using sourcing strategy development, market analysis, supplier negotiations, and relationship management.

Build and maintain knowledge of dynamics in the global pharmaceutical development and manufacturing markets.

Maintain supplier relationships for manufacturing operations, partnering with internal and external collaborators to drive source flexibility, risk assessments, and mitigations.

Streamline procurement practices, communications, and other relevant processes to ensure activities are sustainable in a growing supplier network.

Consult with business partners on procurement policies and procedures.

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in scientific, engineering, business, supply chain, procurement, or another professional field.

Minimum five years of previous experience in areas of development, finance, manufacturing, procurement, or supply chain

Additional Preferences:

Ability to network and influence across all levels of management and across organizations.

Understanding of pharmaceutical development processes.

Ability to manage and prioritize work independently.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Understanding of Lilly’s compliance policies and how they affect third party relationships.

Demonstrated ability of core sourcing skills – account management, sourcing strategy development, spend analysis, sourcing, negotiation, and supplier relationship management.

Experience in research laboratory and/or manufacturing environments.

Prior development and/or manufacturing sourcing experience.

Knowledge of cGMP operation requirements.

Proven skills in contract negotiation leading to cost savings.

Understanding of commercial law and contract terms and conditions.

Other Information:

This is a full-time position located in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Flexibility to support sites in multiple time zones is required.

Travel percentage: 5-10%, including international travel.
