Lab Technician, Microbiology

The Lab Technician, Microbiology will assist Laboratory Technicians and Microbiologists with general tasks associated with maintaining a clean, efficient microbiology/sterility assurance lab. This is an entry-level position and is an opportunity to play a key role in the laboratory and learn the appropriate skills necessary to advance in the department. Primary responsibility will be assisting team leader in Microbial Identification process. This may include streaking plates, sorting and maintenance of microbial ID plates.Assist study directors in specific tasks related to the conduct of a given test or group of tests. This may include test preparation, proper application of test method(s), and data collection.Demonstrate willingness and ability to train on applicable general SOPs pertaining to microbiology/sterility testing.Become familiar with GMP/GLP/ISO requirements as these pertain to work performed in the microbiology lab.Assist in departmental efforts directed toward equipment maintenance and calibration.Provide support to study directors in their efforts to ensure that routine testing submitted by clients is completed within established parameters governing turnaround time, quality specifications, etc.Work together with staff to ensure that all reasonable client requests pertaining to the conduct of a given test are met in a timely and ultimately effective manner.Ensure that study directors working in the Microbiology/Sterility Assurance Department receive the help and cooperation needed to successfully complete their studies in a timely and effective manner.Participate in departmental or company-wide projects designed to improve the internal efficiency and overall quality of work performed in the laboratory.Assist and participate in departmental and/or company-wide projects designed to improve client services.Help and participate in creating and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork throughout the laboratory.Communicate with supervisors regarding progress of tests and/or assignments.
