J&J Construction of Illinois, a Design Build home remodeling firm with over 30 years of success is seeking a skilled Carpenter/Remodeler/Handyman with a minimum of 5 years of experience in home remodeling. This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical skills and attention to detail. For the right person, there is potential for growth.
Responsibilities: Oversee daily job site operations of home remodeling projects, ensuring high-quality standards are met. Adhere to schedules and work with various trades for up to five open jobs simultaneously. Do what it takes to ensure jobs are running smoothly.
Site Visits: Conduct daily site visits to coordinate tradespeople, inspect work to confirm it is done on-time and to a high standard, resolve issues, address customer concerns, clean and organize the job site.
Hands-on: You will be performing the following on your own unless a second pair of hands is needed for safety, etc.
-Demo
-Light electrical, plumbing and framing
-Some drywall repair and some painting
-Install fixtures, cabinets, and accessories and various trim carpentry work
-Site set up, backout work and site take down
-Oversee deliveries to job sites
-Meet with inspectors
-Clean and organize job sites daily, as needed
-Keep work truck clean and organized
-Maintain inventory, materials and tools
-Undertake general maintenance and repair work, as needed, on residential homes, our office and our showroom
-Other projects as required
While J&J Construction office staff maintain the client relationship throughout the project, the Carpenter will be the primary contact in the field during the construction phase. J&J focuses exclusively on residential remodeling, with a specialization in additions, kitchens, and bathrooms.
Qualifications:
-Hands-on experience in the trades or previous experience in home remodeling
-Excellent organizational and planning skills
-Strong problem-solving abilities
-Ability to ensure projects are completed on time and to high standards and specifications
-Strong knowledge of construction techniques and materials
-Ability to read blueprints and schematics
-Proficient in using hand and power tools
-Strong appreciation for cleanliness and being organized
-A positive attitude
-Familiarity with budgeting and cost estimation is a plus
