APEX Wood Floors, a nationally recognized leader in design and innovation of high-quality, handcrafted hardwood flooring for over 40 years, seeks a full time Estimator/Project Manager to join our dynamic team.

In this role, your skills in project organization and your attention to detail will serve you well as you learn our business and support efforts to achieve our mutual goals. This is a unique opportunity for a savvy, motivated individual who has a minimum of 2 years’ related work experience (ex., project management or administrative support in an entrepreneurial environment.)

QUALIFICATIONS / ATTRIBUTES POSSESSED BY LEADING CANDIDATES:

1. Computer savvy with proficiency in CAD and CRM software. Bluebeam and JobTread is a plus.

2. Related work experience is a plus (project management or administrative in an entrepreneurial environment)

3. Impeccable integrity, with a tenacious work ethic

4. Strong critical thinking, written and verbal communication skills

5. Detail oriented, with eagle eye for accuracy

6. Highly skilled at organizing their own work – and understanding how that fits into ‘the big picture’. Anticipatory and proactive, with an awareness of shifting priorities and ‘what’s around the corner’.

7. Superb judgment and ‘on your feet’ thinking. Solution-focused, strategic, and resourceful.

8. A desire to grow, learn and enhance skills: Curious, unafraid to ask questions, coachable.

9. Solid grasp of workplace discretion and appropriateness. Understands boundaries and respects the confidential nature of the work performed for project stakeholders that include architects, builders, design vendors and luxury clients.

10. Enjoys engaging with a diverse range of professional contacts (ex., design industry professionals, tradespersons and vendors, current and potential clients).

11. Thrives in an energetic and collaborative entrepreneurial team environment.

12. Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle enabling work at two office locations (Lombard and downtown Chicago / River North).

13. ‘No-drama’ personality, with a service heart (pitches in to do whatever it takes to ensure success.)

14. Long-term intent.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Support sales team with administrative and sales tasks.

2. Work on multiple opportunities and tasks simultaneously; able to ‘course correct’ promptly when workload and project direction require it.

3. Software used in this role includes:

a. MS-Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

b. CRM and Estimating software (training provided)

c. Bluebeam and CAD (must have prior experience with a blueprint take-off software)

e. QuickBooks familiarity is a plus, but not necessary

4. With training, employee will:

a. Learn and understand the Apex quote/contract process, including reading a Blueprint Bid Set and receiving pricing and lead times from vendors.

b. Perform sales support tasks (ex., input and update client and project information in CRM)

c. Participate in proposal meetings and occasional site visits to assist in the preparation of proposals.

d. Promptly and succinctly communicate ‘incomings’ and status updates to project stakeholders.

5. Understand and maintain standards around the firm’s filing and storage protocols:

a. Individual design project files

b. Project-Specific Digital files

c. ‘Hard’ items (Ex., extensive sample library, presentation items from vendors, sales packets)

6. Act as ‘scribe’ as requested for meetings; prompt transcription and dispensation of meeting notes.

7. Ongoing collaboration with Apex Sales and Operations teams to improve processes and protocols firmwide.

COMPENSATION & TERMS:

1. Comp package commensurate with experience/qualifications.

2. Hours generally are Monday – Friday, 8:30AM – 5:30PM, with flexibility required in start/end time due to occasional early morning or late afternoon needs related to project-specific timelines.

3. Company-provided laptop computer and cell phone.

4. Future occasional work-from-home days may arise based on business needs and workload.

5. Medical, Dental & Vision insurance (employer contributes to premium) in force on first day of first full calendar month following 30 days employment.

6. 401(k) with match up to 4% after 1 year of service.

7. Paid time off includes holidays, personal and sick days.
