THE POSITION

The Assistant Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of concessions including tenant relations, lease monitoring and operations, site inspections, customer service, management reporting and related activities at Chicago Parks. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, results driven; must be able to work flexible hours that will include nights, weekends, and holidays; must possess good communication skills, interpersonal skills, client relationship skills, project management skills, and must have a personal vehicle that can be used for work (travel expenses are reimbursed). The position is full-time and on site at Chicago parks.

Primary Responsibilities:

Perform daily walks of concession facilities to assure consistent concessionaire performance and lease compliance.

Conduct inspections and reviews of stores and restaurants as assigned by the Operations Manager to assure compliance with lease terms; health and safety codes; safety, security, and FAA and federal regulations; other City codes, regulations, and initiatives. As necessary, coordinate with City Heath and other Department representatives.

Document deficient conditions found during walks, reviews, and inspections and report findings to City and concessionaire. Monitor remediation of deficiencies and conduct follow-up inspections.

Support liaison activities among client, concessions management services team, and concessionaires.

Assist coordination of concessionaire delivery, logistics, and storage and support needs.

Work with concessionaires, client, and/or various community groups in order to remedy problems, enhance existing operational conditions and create new business operation locations.

Conduct post-season inspections of business locations as assigned by the Operations Manager to ensure these locations are properly closed for the winter season.

Assist with preparation of periodic management reports.

Assist in the management and coordination of special events.

Perform other tasks as assigned by Operations Manager.

THE CANDIDATE

The successful candidate will be a professional with demonstrated experience in a similar role with a strong preference for candidates with previous operations management experience.

Experience and Training:

Preferred experience in one of the following areas: Operations Management, Commercial Property Management, Food & Beverage Management, or Retail Management.

Preferably certified as Serv-Safe Certified food manager or the ability to obtain food safety manager certification within 90 days of employment commencement.

Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.

Familiarity and comfort with Chicago park locations is a plus.
