Description We are looking for a competent Legal Assistant to join our team in Chicago, Illinois. The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day operations of the firm, including tasks related to e-filing, reviewing and editing of legal documents, and managing firm invoicing/billing. This role is particularly suited to individuals with a background in legal assistance within a busy environment.Responsibilities: Review, edit and file motions, briefs and other legal documents Prepare and review discovery Manage the day-to-day operation of the firm, including scheduling, ordering supplies, and other general administrative tasks Handle firm invoicing/billing Expertly manage case management software applications Apply proficiency in Microsoft Word, LexisNexis, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Reader Experience with Clio is preferred but not required Undertake e-Filing in Illinois and Iowa Conduct scanning tasks Oversee briefing, calendar management, and documentation tasks. Requirements Proficiency in using Case Management Software is essential to manage legal cases efficiently. Extensive knowledge of LexisNexis for conducting legal research and due diligence. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and financial modeling. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites to create, edit, and manage documents, presentations, and spreadsheets. Experience in handling Billing Functions to manage client invoices and payments. Ability to prepare Briefing materials for attorneys, summarizing case details and legal issues. Excellent Calendar Management skills to coordinate and schedule meetings, court dates, and deadlines. Strong Documentation skills to prepare legal documents, contracts, and correspondence. Familiarity with e-Filing systems for submission of legal documents to courts. Experience in managing the Discovery process, including organizing, reviewing, and producing documents.
