Structures Construction and its partners are progressive construction companies growing in the Chicagoland area. As middle market contractors our team members have a unique opportunity to contribute in all facets of the construction industry. We are presently looking to add a staff accountant to our team with 0 to 30 years of experience to our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a degree in finance/accounting with construction specific accounting experience, QuickBooks/Microsoft products familiarity and solid references.

Pay commensurate with experience; please forward salary requirements/history along with credentials. The staff accountant is primarily responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the three main companies and human resources liaison function including but not limited to:

Manage and execute all accounts payable and receivable functions

Prepare financial statements and accounting reports on a regular basis

Prepare state, payroll, federal taxes etc.

Prepare and perform year end operations

Prepare reports for Workers Compensation and other annual audits

Maintain accounting ledgers by posting account transactions.

Verify accounts by reconciling statements and transactions.

Resolve account discrepancies by investigating documentation; payments or adjustments.

Assist external CPA with percentage of completion analysis, quarterly financial reports

Translate sworn statements into receivables and payables

Prepare and file wage reports as required, both internal and external

Translate time sheets into monthly payroll and handle all payroll functions

Maintain vendor database, lines of credit and banking details

Assist project managers to confirm paid out amounts, remaining to be paid, etc.

Work with management and external CPA on special projects

Administer human resource functions, including 401K, vacation tracking etc.

Work with PMs on assisting with draws, waivers and other construction accounting functions

Prepare or review prevailing wage sheets and enter into various web based programs

Pay payroll taxes and other government invoices

Communicate 401K program, provide updates, make payments, update participant information

Track and update employee sick days, vacation, etc.

Communicate health insurance, update forms, make payments

Update employee handbook

Work on special projects with management

Besides the day to day activities bookkeeping/accounting activities we are looking for the candidate that can help us streamline our existing processes, give PMs greater insight into process, update to new systems and increase our competitive advantage in the marketplace.
