The Idaho Bureau of Vital Records and Health Statistics is the official custodian of confidential certificates of birth, death, stillbirth, miscarriage, marriage and divorce events that occur in the State of Idaho.If you have an eye for detail, have exemplary customer service and organization skills, like supervising teammates and helping them succeed, we would like to meet you! The duties of this position on the Vital Records Customer Service team includes supervising staff, interpreting, applying and explaining complex information such as regulations, policies or services and assessing work flow procedures. Requires the ability to independently solve problems/perform liaison activities to deal with individuals or resolve conflicts in a work setting. The hours for this position are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This announcement will be used to fill vacancies at the Idaho Bureau of Vital Records and Health Statistics only. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

Experience supervising staff of multiple work units, which may include lower level supervisors.

Ensure effective work flow, operational consistency and integration.

Evaluate, train and direct staff by developing expectations, objectives and counseling employees.

Serve as a subject matter expert in the interpretation of rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Shares expertise with staff, customers and management as a technical advisor and by providing direction to employees.

Make recommendations to management regarding equipment, space and staff requirements.

Provide clear and concise written explanations or instructions to customers and staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Good knowledge of office support functions.Typically gained by at least one year of experience in an office environment performing a wide variety of functions to include filing and recordkeeping, reviewing documents for compliance with procedures, data entry/keyboarding, using business etiquette in answering a telephone, composing correspondence using good knowledge of spelling, punctuation, and grammar and using various software applications to perform these duties OR have completed two semesters of Office Procedures coursework AND have six months of office support experience.

Experience supervising staff.Typically gained by least one year of experience supervising several (three or more) staff with full responsibility for hiring employees, assigning and reviewing the work of others, completing performance evaluations, participating in problem solving procedures, identifying needs and providing on-the-job training to staff.

Experience interpreting, applying and explaining complex information such as regulations, policies or services.Typically gained by at least one year of work experience interpreting, explaining, and applying complex information such as policies, procedures, regulations, or laws. This includes responsibility for explaining discrepancies or explaining to others how the information applied to their specific situations.

Experience assessing work procedures and developing or modifying those procedures as needed. Typically gained by at least one year of experience assessing and developing procedures in an office setting, with the authority to modify procedures without prior approval from management.

Experience independently solving problems/performing liaison activities to deal with individuals or resolve conflicts in a work setting.Typically gained by at least one year of experience requiring problem-solving skills in dealing with individuals to resolve conflicts in a work setting. Supervisors, leadworkers, team facilitators, and product service representatives or high-level customer service are examples of background that may qualify
