HMH Engineering is a well-established Civil Engineering firm with office locations throughout Idaho. Due to our continued growth and expanding client base, our office in Meridian, ID is seeking to hire a full-time Geotechnical Engineer EIT or PE to join our Team. Other HMH office locations will also be considered. This position offers the opportunity for a broad range of engineering and project management responsibilities providing support to their assigned Partners, Project Managers, and their respective industry groups. This position requires outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, a strong desire to work in the civil design industry, attention to detail, and the ability to organize and support multiple project functions.

Position Responsibilities:

Perform field investigations, field classification of soils collected, geologic reconnaissance, and mapping, observation and inspection

Coordinate and interpret geotechnical lab testing and communicate results

Perform geotechnical engineering and geological analyses and calculations

Prepare and write engineering and other reports

Review drawings and construction methods to assure compliance with plans and specifications

Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor

Position Qualifications:

BS degree in Civil Engineering or engineering geology with demonstrated course work in geotechnical engineering. An MS or PhD degree in geotechnical engineering is a plus.

2 to 15 years of experience in geotechnical engineering.

Work experience and/or coursework in one or more of the following areas including soil and/or rock mechanics, slope stability, shallow foundations and earth retaining structures.

Work experience in one or more of the following areas including construction observation, logging field borings and/or test pits and field reconnaissance.

Knowledge of commonly used computer software (Word, Excel, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation/OpenRoads).

Candidate must have excellent writing and communication skills.

Compensation: DOE.
