We are seeking a skilled Marine Mechanic to join our small ohana at Redline Rafting. The Marine Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing our marine vessels and equipment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with gasoline engines, as well as a strong knowledge of marine systems and equipment.
Responsibilities:
-Perform routine maintenance and repair work on marine vessels and equipment, including engines, electrical systems, plumbing, and steering systems.
-Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with marine equipment and systems, using a variety of diagnostic tools and techniques.
-Perform engine and transmission rebuilds, as well as other major repairs as needed.
-Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including parts used and labor hours.
-Inspect and test marine equipment and systems to ensure they are operating properly and safely.
-Perform sea trials to verify the effectiveness of repairs and maintenance work.
-Keep up-to-date with advances in marine technology and equipment.
Requirements:
-Must live on Maui
-High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school training or apprenticeship preferred.
-Minimum of 2 years' experience as a mechanic (auto mechanic is acceptable but marine preferred).
-Knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, marine electrical systems, plumbing, and steering systems.
-Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
-Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.
-Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-Good communication and interpersonal skills.
-Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
-Flexible schedule needed for emergency situations that may arise.
