Safety and Security Coordinator

Primary purpose: This position is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all client's staff, and the property around the facility of the Mana Olana Homeless Emergency Shelter. This position reports to the Homeless and Housing Programs Director.

$19.86/hour.

Essential duties: Duties as the Safety and Security Coordinator include the following:

- Encourage clients to comply with facility policy and procedures.

- Controls access to client site or facility through the admittance process.

- Perform Crisis intervene to de-escalate potential crisis situations and document all such situations and intervention.

- Make hourly rounds throughout entire facility including all hallways, stairwells, floors, bathrooms, laundry rooms, kitchen, and office spaces. Checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked entrances and exits, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons.

- Complete logs, incident reports and all other required documentation.

- Make calls to police, fire department and other first responders as directed.

- Monitor video surveillance cameras, and fire prevention/detection alarm notification system.

- Protects evidence or scene of incident in the event of accidents, emergencies, or security investigations.

- Responds to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency.

Other functions:

- Prepares logs and reports as required.

- Ensures the safety and security of all assigned equipment.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities;

- Requires knowledge and belief in "Housing First" philosophy and strategies.

- Excellent communication skills, particularly listening, advocacy, and writing skills.

Working Conditions: Indoors

- Equipment Use - Daily use of usual office equipment and supplies as required.

- Work hours - to be scheduled

Mental demands: Duties require frequent use of judgment, attention to detail and basic math skills.

Physical demands: Sitting, walking, lifting up to 20 lbs. reaching, carrying, speaking, and listening.

Communication demands: Duties require frequent communication both inside and outside the agency using considerable tact, persuasion and discretion.

Qualification requirements:

- Be 18 years and older.

- Possess a Certified Hawaii Guard Card.

- Pass a drug screen and background check.

- High school Diploma or equivalent.

- United States citizen or legal permanent resident.

- Professional communication skills.

- Ability to speak, read, and write English efficiently.

- Prior experience preferred but not required
