Interstate Building has an immediate opening for Day Custodian Positions.
Primary Purpose:
Maintain and protect the facility by upkeeping the external and internal appearance of the building as it reflects its occupants. Carefully and thoroughly clean and tidy the premises with a keen eye for details and endurance to cover larger areas.
Essential Functions:
· Ensure spaces are prepared for the night custodian’s by taking out trash, tidying areas, and dusting surfaces.
· Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets.
· Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks, and restock disposables (e.g., soap, paper towels, etc.)
· Perform minor maintenance and repair
· Report major damages and oversee repairs
· Undertake occasional custodian and janitorial tasks
· Maintain janitor closets in a clean, organized, and safe manner.
· Clean and wipe down elevator cabs.
· Place trash mats on each floor.
Other Functions:
· Assist tenants with questions and other inquiries.
Working Conditions:
· Indoors, air-conditioned
Work Hours:
· Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Equipment Used:
· Walkie-talkie, cleaning equipment, and trash cart
Physical, Mental, and Communication Demands:
· Day Custodian duties require frequent walking; require lifting more than 10 lbs.
· Requires General Supervision, direction, and general guidance from executive.
· Requires punctual, strong attendance history.
· Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Demonstrate ability to read, write, and speak English.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
· In addition to meeting the physical, mental, and communication demands listed above, requires prioritizing tasks without guidance.
Experience:
· One year of custodial experience preferred.
