Banana farm in keaau is looking for a full time harvester. No experience necessary, but preferred. Harvest position requires operating a tractor while looking for and identifying certain color tags which are assigned on a weekly basis. The tree must be cut down with a machete but stopped before hitting the ground so bunches can be reached. Bunches are then cut off and carried to a trailer, then harvesters will return to the tree to chop and drop the remainder of the tree. Once trailer is full it will be driven in to the packing house for hanging. This is repeated daily until the hanging area is full. 7-9 hour days. The harvest position requires a strong physique as you will be climbing on and off a tractor, swinging a machete hundreds of times a day and carrying 30-40lb bunches sometimes several hundred feet to trailers. Best HIT class in town!
Applicants must be punctual, have a strong commitment for the position and the team and be extremely reliable.
Starting pay @$15.00, complete medical package (drug/vision/dental) HMSA or Kaiser and year end bonus based off of annual hours worked.
Harvest schedule is Sunday-Thursday, 7 am to 330 pm with OT. Double time on all Holidays worked and observed, OT anything over 8 hrs. Must be able to climb on and off a tractor all day, able lift/carry 50lbs and have no current medical issues. You will be swinging a machete all day so you must not have any shoulder or wrist issues and have a common sense for working with a sharp tool.
Must have reliable transportation, a willingness to be punctual and the desire to grow the best bananas in the state
