I am seeking a reliable companionship/driver caregiver for my 4'10"/ 82 year old mother, who lives in Hawai'i Kai with me.
This will be a long term/ part-time job. Client is frail/fall risk uses a walker/cane and has some mild cognitive decline. She is ambulatory, continent, and manages her own dressing and personal hygiene. She is intelligent, agreeable, talkative, and mostly
good humored.
Tasks:
Diving client (your car) to exercise class at the Kahala YMCA, doctor's appointments, shopping (most driving will be in East Oahu).
Making lunch for client, daily. Some basic cooking skills are required, not just preparing sandwiches.
Helping with light household tasks: her laundry, making her bed, dishes (there is a dishwasher) done WITH the client, not for the client.
Watering plants and yard done WITH the client, not for the client.
Check in and out and keep brief progress notes in a log book in the home.
This job will start Monday, June 30, 2025.
Hours: Monday - Thursday 11am to 3pm. (four hours a day/ four days a week/ 16 hours a week total)
Pay is $25/hr. Payment is made weekly on Thursday by personal check.
Mileage (.70/mile) will be paid for any driving that takes place outside Hawai'i Kai (like trips to the doctor, the YMCA). You will need to keep a mileage record. Some days no driving will be needed for client.
The most important thing is consistency, reliability, routine this is very import for seniors. You will need to arrive on time each day, and be able to work 16 hours a week without conflict. I know that stuff happens, but if it happens a lot this is not the job for you.
I (age 63 female) live with my mother, and do work outside the home, but you will see me regularly. I will be the responsible party you come to with your questions, comments, and concerns and also to get paid.
