Hālau Kū Māna PCS is seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and committed Temporary Special Education Kumu to join our team and serve our haumāna (students) with excellence. This kumu will play a vital role in ensuring all students receive the individualized support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Job Summary:
The Special Education kumu will support our diverse learners by developing and implementing all necessary individualized education plans including:
Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
Behavior Support Plans (BSPs)
This kumu will tailor instructional strategies to align with students’ individual needs and learning styles, while upholding the values, mission, and vision of Hālau Kū Māna. Emphasis will be placed on Indigenous Education practices and fostering holistic growth in our haumāna.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and implement IEPs, BIPs, and BSPs with fidelity
Adapt curriculum and instructional techniques for diverse learners
Collaborate with general education kumu, families, and service providers
Document and report progress toward student goals
Participate in school-wide initiatives and committees
Embrace and integrate Hawaiian cultural values into teaching practices
Preferred Qualifications:
Current Hawaiʻi teaching license or SPED certification preferred
Experience with individualized student supports and documentation
Strong collaboration and communication skills
Commitment to Indigenous Education and Hawaiian values
Term: Temporary, with potential for extension depending on need
Start Date: Immediate / As soon as possible
Compensation: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications
