Position Summary:
Haleakalā Waldorf School is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to support the financial and administrative operations of our school. This position plays a vital role in the day-to-day management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tuition processing, and works collaboratively with multiple departments to ensure the smooth functioning of our mission-driven organization.
We are looking for someone who is reliable, organized, and able to handle sensitive information with discretion—someone who feels aligned with our values of community, beauty, and integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain all accounts payable systems
Process payroll and maintain employee records
Maintain accurate records in QuickBooks and FACTS
Process credit card accounts, reimbursements, and bank deposits
Reconcile accounts, petty cash, and monthly bill payments
Organize and maintain secure financial files and archives
Participate in school events, in-service days, and administrative meetings
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college
Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or school administration
Proficiency in QuickBooks and Google Workspace
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Collaborative team spirit and a willingness to learn school systems and culture
Preferred Qualities:
Prior experience in a school or nonprofit setting
Interest in Waldorf education and working in a values-aligned environment
Warm, grounded, and communicative presence
Compensation:
This is a temporary position. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Benefits available for eligible employees. Work hours are Monday–Thursday, 7:45 am–3:45 pm, and Friday 7:45 am–1:00 pm, with occasional evenings/weekends for school events.
