Quality Assurance and Food Safety Technician

Overview: The Quality Assurance and Food Safety Technician ensures that food safety policies and product quality standards are consistently met within our Food Manufacturing Plant. This role acts as the key liaison between regional management and the Head Office QA Department, and works closely with customer, third-party, and government health auditors.

Key Responsibilities:

Support front-line supervisory staff in adhering to GMP and HACCP program compliance.

Take on team lead responsibilities, including shift management.

Oversee manufacturing processes and plant facilities, ensuring they meet quality standards with a focus on product safety, sanitation, environmental responsibility, and customer satisfaction.

Conduct random on-floor quality checks and ensure compliance with CFIA standards through regular internal audits.

Perform routine audits in the plant and warehouse to ensure alignment with company standards.

Organize and lead Food Safety and Quality Control training sessions.

Maintain HACCP records, perform reviews and verifications, and take corrective actions as necessary. Assist with the revision of SOPs and specifications when required.

Coordinate microbiological and chemical sample collection and ensure lab results meet company standards.

Update supplier information and confirm that received materials meet QA standards.

Perform daily pre-operational checks, internal audits, and other factory audits as needed.

Investigate and resolve non-compliant products or practices, applying findings to drive process improvements.

Qualifications:

Post-secondary education in Food Science, Chemistry, Public Health, or Biological Sciences is preferred.

Strong knowledge of food safety standards.

HACCP experience is an asset.

Previous leadership experience in a food processing environment is preferred.

Effective communication and organizational skills.

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage tight deadlines.

Proficient with computer systems and software.

Must pass background and drug test
