Description:
Our growing tax and accounting office provides high quality services to small businesses and individuals. Accountants perform complex income tax, write-up, payroll, and representation duties. If complications arise, we expect accountants to seek assistance and opinions from other team members and through professional research, as needed. Accountants must be effective team members by supporting other office operations. Accountants are encouraged to promote business growth through networking, handing out business cards, telling friends, etc. TaxSmart provides the needed tax software, computer, office supplies, paper, internet connection, reference materials, workspace, etc. to perform the required job responsibilities.
An Accountant is a salaried, full-time position, meaning a minimum 5-day, 40-hour work week in our office. During peak season (January – April) extra hours and Saturdays should be expected. This is the “busy season” and we expect an “all hands on deck” approach. We are closed on Sundays.
All team members are expected to maintain professional relationships with clients and other team members. Integrity and honesty are minimum requirements for success. Therefore, Accountants are expected to abide by the standards laid out in IRS Circular 230 and/or the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct.
Furthermore, Accountants are expected to be inquisitive about tax laws and regulations. Asking questions, seeking advice, and conducting research are strongly encouraged. Thus, Accountants must stay current on appropriate tax law changes and updates through reading professional journals, IRS announcements, etc.
Likewise, Accountants must be able to communicate their tax knowledge to clients in a positive, helpful, easy to understand manner. We want our clients to say, “Thanks for helping me to understand.”
