Established Clearwater law firm seeks an experienced legal assistant/paralegal with litigation background and skills. Successful candidate must possess knowledge and command of Florida and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, preparation of legal documents including propounding and answering of discovery, and e-filing and service protocols in state and federal courts. Appellate experience preferred but not required. The position will support litigation/appellate attorneys and collaborate with the team and additional litigation staff within the firm.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:
Handle calendars, monitor deadlines, communicate with attorneys, clients, court reporters, etc., arrange travel for attorneys as required, and complete litigation-related tasks as assigned.
Legal research and writing, including drafting answers to complaints, discovery requests, good faith letters, and motions;
Experience navigating case management software and the ability to learn new software;
Minimum 2 – 5 years experience required. B.S. Degree or Paralegal Certification preferred;
Must have detailed knowledge of Florida and Federal rules of civil procedure, local rules as necessary, and e-filing and service of documents;
Ability to work in both an independent and team environment;
Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills; and
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
