The candidate will be deeply rooted in the success of the family office. The Accountant’s primary role is to drive financial excellence and provide the best available data for decision making by ensuring that the financial books and records reflect the economic reality of the various constituents. The position requires more than an ability to complete directives. It demands a thoughtful and strategic self-starter with a drive to deliver exceptional results through teamwork and optimized processes and organization. This is a highly visible, robust role within a boutique environment.RESPONSIBILITIES include:

Full responsibility for recording transactions and performing proactive accounting reviews of records to improve general ledger accuracy and backend efficiency ensuring the accuracy of all relevant financial statements and reporting

Assist with period, quarter and year-end close activities to include general ledger entries, analysis and account reconciliations for family-owned businesses

Lead in the production of invoicing and credit memo transactions

Perform daily/weekly/monthly reporting for all Family Office Stakeholders.

Assist in development of policies and procedures as needed to increase the completeness, accuracy, validity and timeliness of accounting information.

Preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements for family members, trusts and certain family entities

Analyze month end reports for variances to forecast and budget and follow up on unusual variances to ensure understanding

Maximize returns of financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems

Maintain a cash flow projection for family members, trusts and certain family entities while performing all necessary cash management functions.

Assist in the development and reporting of annual budgets and updated forecasts for family members, trusts and certain family entities

Perform proactive accounting reviews of family office trusts and operating companies to improve general ledger accuracy and backend processing efficiency and transparency

Become proficient in the use of Sage Intacct, QuickBooks and other supporting software to ensure efficient use of technology and workflow

Partner will others while leveraging online bill pay platforms to ensure all family office invoices are paid and appropriately coded into the accounting system, with a focus towards electronic payment processing

Identify risks and inefficiencies in current operations and recommend technology-based solutions

Perform proactive management reporting for family office stakeholders utilizing current, and potentially future technology

Establish strong working relationships with all stakeholders, including internal and external partners

Assist in special projects as determined by family office leadership

Lead support of year-end audits, tax preparation, and tax compliance issues as needed

Provide other accounting assistance as needed

Provide backup to other family office positions

Required Education:

BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience

Required Experience:

2+ years of experience in an accounting capacity

Strong knowledge of Sage Intacct and QuickBooks (and other accounting software) highly desired

Fully conversant in Microsoft Office applications, specifically MS Excel

Willing to have limited travel to other family office locations and/or operating companies to provide necessary support

Emotional maturity, a professional mindset and discretion are a must in this position. The majority of work will be shared with instruction for what is trying to be accomplished and guidance on a couple variables at play – but the candidate will be asked to figure out the rest with ingenuity and resourcefulness.
