Manager, Strategy and Transformation Communication

Overview To lead employee communications for enterprise-wide strategy and transformation communications. Responsible for influencing and overseeing the planning, implementation and measurement of complex change and strategy communications campaigns, and ensuring strategic alignment among teams and plans. Responsibilities

Lead, coach and develop a geographically dispersed team of Employee Communications professionals charged with informing and inspiring team members and driving business priorities within the enterprise.

Lead cross-functional teams for key initiatives, including leading direct reports and non-direct reports.

Serve as a partner and trusted advisor to executive leaders, providing insight, perspective and counsel on related communications strategies and issues.

Create, influence and oversee the planning, implementation and measurement of complex change and strategy communications campaigns, plans and tactics that are aligned to the company’s priorities, culture and values; ensure strategic alignment among teams and plans.

Develop communication strategies to foster clear and timely information flow and help team members understand the programs, initiatives, and activities being communicated.

Facilitate team’s partnership with business unit communicators on the implementation of enterprise employee campaigns, ensuring all communications strategies and tactics are consistent with the company’s strategic vision, messaging and brand.

Drive continuous improvement of communications plans, tactics and processes through disciplined measurement, analysis and adjustment; support team in translating metrics into actionable intelligence for the organization, and influence team in making data-driven decisions, and advocate for measurement within the organization.

Translate the identified communication needs of the business areas into unified communication plans and approaches.

Develop communication strategies to foster clear and timely information flow and help employees understand the programs, initiatives, and activities being communicated.

Oversee team in identifying and developing feedback mechanisms and indicators to measure the success of communications strategies and activities.

Ensure communications tools maximize the impact/effectiveness of communications and are aligned with corporate goals, objectives, vision, and mission.

Partner with other corporate communications/public relations-cognizant areas to address common issues, share ideas, and identify and leverage enterprise-wide tools, standards, and shared resources.

Perform supervisory/managerial responsibilities:

Ensure adequate/skilled staffing

Establish performance goals and priorities

Prepare, conduct and review performance appraisals

Develop, mentor and counsel staff

Provide input on budget requirements for Annual Financial Plan

Ensure team’s goals align with division/department strategy

Ensure efficiency of operations

Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing or related field

Advanced knowledge of and experiencing with change management principles and practices.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong judgement, problem solving and organizational skills, superb attention to detail and the ability to interpret business priorities in a simple, compelling way for diverse audiences across the company.

Curious, analytical and willing to challenge the status quo.

Seasoned people leader with a proven track record of managing the work of a large team, and empowering, motivating and developing them.

Poised and approachable. Exceptional business acumen and significant experience in positively handling high-profile communications issues, demonstrating sound judgment and persuasive counseling to your team and to senior management.

Strong project manager who lives by prioritization and attention to detail, and thrives in fast-paced environments where a typical day has you juggling multiple projects simultaneously, reprioritizing quickly and meeting deadlines.

Significant experience blending internal and external communications with a track record of developing, implementing and measuring successful communications plans in collaboration with cross-function teams, preferably for a large, complex organization

Advanced knowledge of and experiencing with change management principles and practices.

Experience proposing and piloting new, creative solutions, tools and technologies using strategic rationale and business need to build a case.

Expert knowledge of internal communications, the employee services/program field and employee/corporate communications principles.

Ability to analyze data and organizational needs to recommend action or change in methods.

Advanced research, analytical, and problem solving skills.

Advanced skill working with diverse internal and external contacts.

Advanced skill communicating with all levels within an organization.

Excellent skill presenting to stakeholders and management.

Advanced skill building effective relationships through rapport, trust, diplomacy and tact.

Significant experience managing people and/or teams

Excellent writing and editing skill

Proficient in Associated Press Style.

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Desired Qualifications

Change management certification, such as Prosci

Communications and leadership experience with large, complex organizations.

Experience with communications tools including website content management systems and other digital communications tools.

Experience producing omni-channel editorial content for a newspaper, news channel, video, magazine or other venue.

Experience with Microsoft Teams as an organization tool for team work and collaboration.
