DescriptionProject Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.The Manufacturing Engineer – Satellite Integration will lead assembly, integration and test flows for space hardware builds . This individual will work closely with other engineering and manufacturing teams to integrate Kuiper satellites with dispenser and launch vehicle hardware.The Manufacturing Engineer – Satellite Integration is a technical leader of the team, providing guidance on many aspects including but not limited to testing requirements, assembly/integration work cell design within the payload processing facilities, facility and equipment planning, integration and test application implementation and improvement, process control, design for manufacturability, project management, and tooling design.The ideal candidate is comfortable in a highly technical setting and leads collaboration with other departments to reach the best solution to any problem and is able to technically challenge assumptions and requirements of these departments, such as dynamics and thermal analysis, design engineering, and tooling engineering.Additionally, a Manufacturing Engineer – Satellite Integration is expected to set objectives for the themselves, not only identifying the right long term strategies but implementing them on their assemblies and responsibilities, leading by example first and then by instruction. They'll have extensive experience in space hardware integration and test, with particular focus on satellite to dispenser and/or launch vehicle integration.Key job responsibilities

Working with engineering teams – plan and optimize workstation layouts for Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT), to intended throughput capacities.

Material flow planning and manufacturing process definition – spacecraft and dispenser level, assembly & test.

Implement and continuously improve assembly, integration and test processes

Specify and procure various assembly equipment and systems to meet program development requirements

Interface with facilities personnel in site usage and integration flow.

AIT takt time & cost optimization planning

Definition & implementation of Work Order and automated documentation processes.

Payload compliance certification sign-off

Anomaly resolution and corrective action implementation

Assist in hiring personnel (engineers and technicians) related to above tasking.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.A day in the lifeThe Manufacturing Engineer – Satellite Integration will spend significant amounts of time collaborating with engineering, quality, and manufacturing to test satellites, dispensers and oversee hardware integration. They will oversee their assembly, integration and test workstation, address root cause of failures and issues, and implement production control and optimization strategies. They will be the front line technical lead to deliver their space hardware product value stream, implementing engineering best practices in a safe and repeatable manner, implementing efficiency improvements and reducing non-conformances.We are a fast-paced, data-driven team, and work with leaders in multiple technology areas to deliver the best product for our customers. Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures

Bachelors degree in engineering, physics, or other relevant discipline

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent

Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production

Experience with the project management of technical projects
