Job Title: Mechanical EngineerJob DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, analyze, document, and support the testing of precision opto-mechanical components and products. Examples include optical assemblies, IR & visible sights, and electronics packaging primarily for military applications. As a member of a project team, you will work with Systems Engineering and other Design Engineering disciplines to develop new or improved products using computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software.Responsibilities

Design, develop, analyze, document, and support testing of products, systems, or subsystems.

Use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software to develop new or improved products.

Evaluate and recommend design approaches to meet performance requirements for new or improved products.

Investigate solutions to product or process problems.

Perform structural and thermal modeling and analysis of complex opto-mechanical systems to verify and validate that the design meets performance requirements.

Develop prototypes to retire key development risks.

Collaborate with Systems Engineering and other Design Engineering disciplines on product development.

Provide budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments.

Participate in and conduct peer reviews and formal design reviews.

Create and release engineering drawings and documents using PLM systems.

Participate in the preparation of proposals.

Support testing of products.

Essential Skills

5 years of experience in mechanical design.

3D CAD experience.

Experience with GD&T (tight tolerances) – true position of 14. True position of 10 or less would be good.

Structural analysis experience.

Thermal analysis experience.

FEA analysis experience.

Precision mechanisms experience.

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

7+ years of experience in mechanical design.

Experience with Creo preferred.

MSME is desired.

Experience with IR technology and products.

Opto-mechanical design experience.

Experience with stabilized platform design.

Electronics packaging design experience.

Ability to lead and direct the activities of less experienced engineers.

Structural FEA experience.

Thermal FEA experience.

CFD FEA experience.
