Schooner Appledore Star is seeking to hire deckhand/mates who are enthusiastic about learning and have a strong work ethic. This opportunity provides an excellent steppingstone for accumulating sea time, maintenance experience, and sailing expertise.
Appledore Star operates as a day sailing ship, in Key West, FL. Daily Sails include one snorkeling/kayaking eco trip in the backcountry and then a sunset sail. Day sails typically consist of 50% sailing and 50% bartending, and deckhands should be personable and eager to share their knowledge of the ship and its operations with passengers.
This schooner provides an excellent opportunity to learn the basics and transition into other positions such as first mate, bosun, engineer, or captain.
