Under the direction of the AMRIS Facility Director, Joanna R. Long, Ph.D., the holder of the position maintains high-field vertical-bore magnet research in¬strumentation, trains users, works with internal and external users to develop new research protocols, and collaborates on in-depth research projects as appropriate. As needed, the position holder works with other staff of the AMRIS Facility to maintain facility-wide magnet resources and develop applications on other instrumentation. AMRIS is a core facility housed in the Evelyn F. and William L. McKnight Brain Institute at the University of Florida (MBI-UF). AMRIS houses ten complementary high-end NMR and MRI instru¬ments providing resources for imaging and chemical analyses to sci¬entists at the University of Florida, as well as a vibrant and diverse external user program supported by the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL). AMRIS is man¬aged as a university-wide service center in accordance with federal cost accounting standards. AMRIS is also oper¬ated as a national resource in coopera¬tion with the National Science Foundation-funded NHMFL, the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs, and the National Institutes of Health.Support ssNMR and solution NMR applications: Advise, assist and coordinate the creation, planning and execution of experiments on high field NMR instruments within the AMRIS facility.Empower cutting edge research by developing and implementing new methodologies for internal and external users: Collaborate with and assist internal and external users of the AMRIS Facility with experimental protocols, data analysis, grant proposals, and manuscript preparation and review. Work with AMRIS Facility Director and Associate Director to develop new studies and advance technologies for AMRIS ssNMR and solution NMR applications. Also col-laborate with AMRIS Facility staff to assist internal and external users of the other magnet resources in the AMRIS Facility with experimental protocols, data analysis, grant proposals, and manuscript preparation and review. These functions will be particularly important for developing new and emerging tech¬niques for applica¬tions as opposed to using the instru¬ments as a standard service tool as described above.Quality control and performance measures for ssNMR and solution NMR experiments and assure Facility operations associated with assigned instruments comply with AMRIS safety regulations and expectation.Expected Salary:$69,600 - $92,000Minimum Requirements:PhD required or more than 10 years science related, core specific advanced training and work experience with at least 5 years in core facility specific applications and at least 3 years of that in research-based technology. Work experience in a multi-user core facility required.Core or technology specific licensure and/or certifications where applicable. Additionally, yearly certificate and compliance training if required.Preferred Qualifications:

PhD degree in Chemistry, Biophysics, Biochemistry, or Structural Biology-related areas, with a demonstrated expertise in techniques of high field solution and solid-state NMR spectroscopy and their applications to studies of biological macromolecules.

Advanced knowledge of NMR spectroscopy including execution of pulse programs, data hierarchy and processing, and performing NMR hardware and software diagnostics as necessary.

Competency with various computer systems and platforms such as Linux and Windows is necessary.

Customer service oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to juggle multiple responsibilities while still meeting deadlines.
