Job description:

Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Immigration Case Manager or Immigration Lead Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing immigration cases from initiation through resolution, ensuring compliance with immigration laws and regulations. This role involves client interaction, preparation of legal documents, and collaboration with attorneys to provide comprehensive support throughout the immigration process.

Position Summary:

This is a position that will be responsible for the training, and oversight of the Paralegals at the office. This position works in conjunction with other positions using a multidisciplinary approach for the provision of services. This position is responsible for performing continuous quality assurance checks to ensure case management is occurring in an accurate and timely manner.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

-Conducts client intake consultations to gather information for the attorney and provides guidance on immigration options.

-Assigns cases to the Paralegals team

-Provides supervision, direction, and support to the paralegals team.

-Monitors paralegals to ensure compliance with weekly status update meetings

-Conducts ongoing audits of the caseload or master list of active cases to ensure compliance with all needed services

-Makes recommendations for additional services or protocols to adopt in a given case.

-Reviews immigration cases prepared by paralegals to ensure quality and compliance.

-Provides Quality Control to cases to ensure that the corrections requested by the attorney after the attorney review are properly implemented before filing.

-Ensures that staff receives required training and professional development within the specified time frames.

-Communicates with government agencies such as EOIR, CBP, ICE, USCIS, BIA, etc.

-Communicates effectively with clients, attorneys, and external parties via phone and email handling escalation of cases and matters by other staff.

-Conducts thorough legal research to support case strategies and client needs.

-Prepares and files immigration petitions and applications with the appropriate government agencies.

-Maintains accurate records and documentation for all cases.

-Stay updated on changes in laws relevant to case management practices

Additional Duties:

-Participates in all related trainings, in-services, and staff meetings as required

-Attends mandatory conferences and trainings as scheduled for professional development.

-Performs other duties as assigned by managing attorney.

Educational & Experiential MINIMUM Requirements:

-Min. 5-7 years of experience as an immigration paralegal

-At least 3 years of progressive employment experience that demonstrates supervisory and case management experience.

-Min. 1-year supervisory experience of other paralegals, and their work and case management required.

-Bilingual English/Spanish required. Must have Advanced English Fluency both written and verbal.

-Strong communication skills, phone etiquette, and ability to interact with clients effectively.

-Strong command of technology tools such as Dropbox, G-suite, Adobe Acrobat, MS Office, etc.

-Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills ith the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.

-Proficiency in legal research, legal drafting skills and document preparation.

-Ability to write clearly and concisely for various legal documents.

-Exceptional leadership and effective team work skills and ability to work independently

-Proficiency in legal administrative tasks with a strong understanding of an Immigration law office's operations.

Additional Skills

-Immigration Paralegal certification preferred but NOT required

-Portuguese and Creole a plus but not required.

-Family law experience preferred but not required

Job Type:

-Full-time / Expected hours: 40 per week

-Schedule: 8 hour shift (Monday to Friday)

Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour / Bonuses if applicable
