Primrose, a French inspired restaurant in Brookland, is looking for a new Executive Sous Chef. We provide a warm and inviting atmosphere, creating a place where our guests feel at ease. Our food is rooted in French classic & techniques but engages with ingredients and dishes from around the world.
As Sous Chef, you will handle the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, per the Executive Chef. Responsibilities include supervising the kitchen team, menu design, scheduling and training associates, monitoring inventory. Candidates will be well-versed in all aspects of professional kitchens and have extensive experience in different types of restaurants. The ability to delegate to the team and oversee each station with strong supervisory and leadership skill is paramount to the position.
Responsibilities:
Prepare food items using various cooking methods. Observe and test dishes.
Ensure proper care, maintenance, and sanitation of work areas, equipment, & supplies.
Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and meets standards of quality.
Fill in for Executive Chef as needed
Manage and train kitchen staff, coordinate schedules, and oversee their work.
Ordering and managing inventory.
Deep knowledge of cooking methods, equipment, ingredients, and procedures
Formal culinary training is a plus.
Ability to problem-solve on the spot and give clear directions.
Other Requirements -
5+ years experience
Able to walk or stand for long periods. Must be able to push, pull, or lift to 30 pounds. Must reach items at varying heights (on shelves, on the ground, etc.)
Please have solid references and a history of achievement in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Weekends are required. Ability to speak Spanish is not required but is a plus. Teamwork and leadership are key values of our management.
Schedule: 50-55 hours per week. Tuesday - Sunday availability
