Residential Design/Build Architecture Firm

Are you an experienced REVIT residential designer who thrives in a team environment? Are you able to organize and produce a set of construction documents, coordinating with the lead architect, interior designer, structural engineer, and permitting department? We are an established residential design-build remodeling firm with a stellar reputation that is looking for an outstanding key hire. Our projects are designed and built with in-house personnel, for a seamless deliverable client experience. Our clients are mid- to high-end, with aesthetic and convenience expectations that we are uniquely suited to provide.

High level of proficiency is required. Training on technical aspects of this position is provided.

Required Education and Experience

o Bachelor Degree (in Architecture or Engineering a strong plus)

o Excellent Transcripts

o Architectural License a strong plus

o 5+ years in REVIT designing of all aspects of residential remodeling design and/or construction

Required Skills and Qualifications

o Proficiency in: Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office, Adobe, Sketchup, 3D views

o Excellent technical skills in Residential Design, Structural, Construction Documents

o Familiarity with Virginia building codes, and ability to research unknowns

o Analytical Skills - ability to recognize problems, distill and define pertinent issues, and determine and propose effective solutions

o Excellent interpersonal skills to fit with office atmosphere, including ability to interact with client as-needed

o Excellent written and oral communication skills

Duties and Responsibilities

o Accountable and Responsible for quality and accuracy of all design and construction drawings, details, selections, discussions, structural engineering coordination, permitting

Construction Budget

o A construction budget is established very early in the process. Work with co-workers to stay within the budget. Creatively value-engineer details to comply with budget.

Existing Conditions:

o Measure and produce accurate as-built drawings, including existing conditions analysis

o Understand hidden aspects of existing construction types for residential structures built between 1920’s and present

Design

o Interface with project Salesperson to assess client needs

o Work from Architect’s schematic design to create accurate floor plans and elevations for presentation, sales, and estimating

o Interface with Salesperson, Kitchen and Bath Designer, Production Manager, and Estimator to refine design

o Produce primarily 2D views. Generate 3D views as-needed to advance client’s decision-making process.

Construction Drawings

o Produce accurate floor plans, exterior elevations, interior elevations, building sections, construction details including structural details, and framing plans while coordinating with structural engineer

o Review own work for accuracy, compliance, and coordination across all disciplines

o Coordinate with salesperson, estimator, specification writer, and production manager throughout construction of each project, as-needed

o Familiar with Virginia Residential Building Codes. Embrace code research as necessary

Specifications

o Perform product research and incorporate into design. For example; window and door specifications, manufacturer, style, material, color, sizing, tempering, etc; and create accurate orders using manufacturer’s software

Engineering

o Understand structural engineering and facilitate easy communication with structural engineer.

Permits

o Gather all pertinent information from County, Client, and existing job site conditions, regarding zoning, building requirements, Health Department, Site review. Produce construction documents within these parameters, to ensure successful issuance of permit

o Assemble permit package and apply for permits, including interface with survey(or) for accurate plat

o Respond to county comments and re-submit as-needed

Construction Management

o Coordinate with Construction Manager as-needed during construction.

o Respond to questions and update and revise drawings for successful completion of projects.
