Thomas Custom Builders, a family-owned design build firm specializing in custom residential construction in the Northern Virginia area, seeks an Interior Designer/drafter for multiple projects. Looking for a candidate capable of taking a project through all phases of the process; from initial visit and site walkthrough to as-built all the way to producing the permit-ready plan set, including correspondence with clients in the concept phase. We have recently acquired multiple new design projects and are looking for immediate assistance.
Experience
· CAD experience required
· Experience with residential construction highly desired
· Education with building code for residences desired
Job Requirements
· Associates Degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design preferred. (Not Required)
· Must be proficient in SoftPlan 2016 or above, AutoCad, Revit, etc.
· Ability to efficiently show design options to clients.
· Other useful software experience includes: Word, Adobe, Excel and Outlook
· Ability to understand and interpret construction drawings and have a thorough knowledge of architectural detailing.
· Perform revisions to existing drawings.
· Ability to design and/or modify components or subsystems to include planning, layout, drawing and revising detailed parts, assemblies and/or installation drawings.
· The position will at times involve coordinating and communicating with clients, consultants, city plan reviewers, inspectors and contractors.
· Ability to measure existing site conditions and draw existing structures.
· The successful candidate will be self-motivated, punctual, works with minimal supervision; can handle multiple tasks and multiple deadlines throughout the course of the workday; can prioritize, coordinate well with supervisors and understands the value of client service.
· Selections tracking for multiple projects.
· Ability to interact with clients via phone, email, virtually and in person.
· Must be proficient in the English language and possess strong communication skills (written and verbal).
