job title: Construction Accountant
ULTRA Company is a commercial general contractor serving the Washington, DC area. The
Company offers our commercial real estate clients a wide array of construction, renovation,
and maintenance services from large complex projects to smaller service contracts.
The Construction Accountant will work with our Controller and serves as an integral part of the financial services team and is critical for corporate accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, cash management, budgeting, capital account maintenance, annual audits, and tax compliance.

Job Responsibilities:
Coordinate with operations staff to ensure adequate data relay.
Work with external auditors, tax professionals, and insurance companies.
Perform all ongoing daily accounting and administrative/financial duties.
Responsible for all recording of AR/AP/PR transactions
Month end duties including statement reconciliations, trial balance review and period closings.
Maintain construction project data within the accounting department, including setting
up projects (jobs), estimated job costs, cost codes, contracts, change orders, purchase
orders, and, when needed, customizing construction progress reports.
Prepare/review/notarize lien releases.
Review and record costs to ensure compliance with revenue
recognition standards and company policies.
Process and record construction invoices (payment applications)
Process project billings and lien releases for customer invoices.
Process disbursements and lien releases for vendor invoices.
Facilitate project reporting for management & operational personnel.
Prepare timely and accurate monthly reports.
Job Skills & Qualifications Required
Four‐year business accounting/finance degree and/or a minimum of 5 years’ progressively
expanding construction/job cost accounting experience.
Self-starter with the ambition for growth.
Professional written and verbal communication skills.
Extensive experience with QuickBooks Contractor edition.
Understanding of construction cost accounting principles and revenue recognition
standards.
Experience reading and/or interpreting construction contracts, lien releases, and other
pertinent construction documents.
Intermediate skills with MS Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data and perform quantitative analyses.
VA Notary Public required

QuickBooks Contractor Edition Expertise
Procore software experience is a plus, but not required
