Join us and reach your higher purpose at Cargill.Job Purpose and ImpactThe Senior Manager, Global Policy Communications will partner with the Director of Executive and Policy Communications to help advance Cargill’s government relations work in key regions. In this role, you will collaborate with the government relations and global communications teams to develop and execute strategies and tactics supporting policy advocacy including programs and campaigns, stakeholder engagement, and grassroots efforts. The ideal candidate will have significant experience running communications around sophisticated legislative, regulatory, political, and policy related issues and driving a holistic stakeholder engagement strategy.Key Accountabilities

Develop strategic internal and external communications plans to address complex topics and issues

Serve as a liaison between global communications and government relations functions to facilitate alignment on strategy and content in a global, matrixed organization

Partner with government relations and global communications teams to define core audiences, key messages, and create Cargill’s public policy brand, using internal and external strategies to reach target audiences

Build compelling content across a variety of media, including the co-development of materials such as policy positions, talking points, briefing documents, speeches, visual storytelling content, and more

Monitor emerging trends in public policy communications and take a data-driven approach to reaching target audiences

Work under minimal supervision and independently handle complex issues while referring only the most complex issues to higher-level staff

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

Minimum of four years of related work experience

Strong knowledge and experience in the Washington, DC market, and strong understanding of government operations, structures, and practices

Experience advising and coaching executive leadership on communications-related issues

Excellent media relations skills

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum of eight years of experience in public relations and / or communications

Proven performer capable of bringing creative approaches to a results-driven organization

Hands-on experience managing a highly proactive communications strategy, with a solid reputation for integrity, transparency, and follow-through

Demonstrated leadership skills, strong judgment, and ability to build rapport with internal constituencies at all levels of a matrixed organization; ability to positively motivate, lead and build consensus across multi-disciplinary teams

Ability to respond quickly and appropriately with a reactive communications strategy on business issues, as needed (systems thinker)

Strong business knowledge with a proven ability to use communications to drive business strategy

Ability to translate complicated issues into easily understood language and messages

Proficiency with AP style
