Metro area and Hackensack Meridian Health in northern New Jersey. The Men’s Health Navigator, Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Prevention guides men, especially from minoritized and under-resourced communities, through cancer prevention, diagnostic, therapeutic, and survivorship phases of the cancer continuum, as needed. The navigator will help establish and implement community-based partnerships and navigation processes for cancer services related to gastrointestinal, lung, prostate, and other cancers. The navigator will also assist the nurse navigator and associated Lombardi faculty in tracking outcomes for outreach, engagement and navigation in Men’s Health. This position requires ongoing support. Duties include but are not limited to:
Conduct outreach in the DC metropolitan area to identify and partner with community-based organizations focused on men’s health and other issues relevant to adult men.
Promote cancer screening and preventive services in men through outreach, education, and navigation.
Actively engage and recruit underrepresented minorities in clinical research/trials, and population sciences research.
Identify and address social determinant barriers through existing navigation and community partnerships.
Work InteractionsThis position plays a key role in establishing and maintaining Georgetown Lombardi’s commitment to engaging the whole person (Cura Personalis) and the community in reducing the cancer burden in the district and surrounding areas. The work will involve communicating with diverse stakeholders including health providers, public health personnel, community members, community leaders etc. Developing new partnerships in the community and helping address barriers to accessing cancer-related services in collaboration with the existing team at the Ralph Lauren Center will be critical. The position reports to the Director of Cancer Screening at the Ralph Lauren Center. Requirements and Qualifications
At least a Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in community health or related field
At least 6 months experience working within communities, particularly among underrepresented minorities and/or among men
3 years of related experience, and knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects
Experience in working in teams involved in clinical trials or other types of research
Ability to read/write in English
Proficient in MS Office – Word, Excel and PowerPoint along with a working knowledge of Internet usage, research, and office equipment
Must be able to drive and attend community events/community partner sites and have flexibility to work at least one weekend per month
Knowledge about communities and culture in the Washington DC metropolitan area preferred
