CACI is seeking a Junior/Entry Level Systems Safety Engineer to work with a dynamic team of ship Marine/ Mechanical/ Electrical/ Structural engineers and Naval Architects.

You will provide technical, and program support on various engineering projects alone and as part of an engineering team primarily in support of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and the Military Sealift Command (MSC).

Provide Systems Safety engineering support for in-service and new vessel design.

Learn and maintain working familiarity with the Safety Appendix of the Navy SETR (Systems engineering Technical Review) handbook.

Provide support to author and review of Safety Criteria Statements, and similar organizational safety and risk reduction related processes as related to shipboard engineering systems.

Work with stakeholders.

Use, maintain, and improve document authoring and drafting practices and tools to develop reports, manuals, and drawings with high efficiency and accuracy

Responsibilities:

Responsible for providing support to new vessel design at the vessel-specific level and program level in the areas of safety systems and risk reduction and management for shipboard systems with a focus on mission systems.

Applies knowledge of mechanics, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and mechanical systems to these activities.

Maintains working knowledge and familiarity with customer specifications, manuals, and procedures in areas of safety and risk reduction, and applies understanding of these areas to new vessel design spiral and in-service vessel lifecycle support.

Works closely with other disciplines to review specifications, study, analyze, and finalize modifications and develop manuals, briefs, calculation reports, and specifications for guidance and implementation

Qualifications:

BSME, BSCE, BSAE, BS ISE or BSNA/ME

Ability to write concise reports and specifications in English with minimal oversight in MS Word making use of features such as styles, fields, and references.

Proficiency in MS Excel and Powerpoint

Ability to work alone on individual projects with minimal supervision and with other Engineering Disciplines on a team.

Ability to interface with team members, technical leads, and Project Managers

Ability to review and apply US Navy and/or US commercial ship design requirements, including DOD acquisition, system safety, and testing processes

Good verbal (English) communication skills

Willingness to travel ≤10% of the time

Must be a US Citizen

Ability to Obtain a Clearance

Nice to Have's:

Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D

Shipboard and/or shipyard design, operation, or repair experience

NOSSA Safety Environment Experience

Engineering and Technical Authority (E&TA) Familiarization training

Electronic Hazard Assessment Report (eHAR) training
