We are in need of farm workers on a part-time to full-time basis starting imediately with the potential to work through October. We have a few positions that we need to fill over the next few weeks but will start taking working interviews asap. We own and operate a retail nursery center as well as a wholesale cut flower farm (on seperate locations within a mile from eachother). Some days we will be working in the greenhouses and some days we will working in our fields. The job requires a lot of walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, carrying, and a lot of lifting heavy objects on a daily basis. We work rain or shine. Some days we begin at 6am to beat the heat and are done working in the early afternoon but the hours vary depending on the tasks.
Our season usually begins around mid March, gets really busy late April-May, then we are steady from June-Sepetember, and slowing down in October. There is a wide variety of tasks that will be preformed and the tasks are always changing with the seasons. In the Spring, we plant lots of transplants at the greenhouses and also are preparing our farm land to receive transplants. May, we start planting our transplants into the ground on the farm and begin maintaining the fields on a weekly basis. June, we shift over from the greenhouses to the farm full-time and continue planting and weeding on a daily basis. July-September we are harvesting, weeding and planting on the farm on a daily basis. October, we begin cutting back all the plants that are done for the year and cleaning up the greenhouses and the farm to get ready for Winter. Season ends come November, with potential option to return in the Spring.
Experience helps but is not necessary as we are willing to teach you our preferred ways of completing tasks. Tasks will range based on the time of year as mentioned above. You must be able to work in a group with others and be able to work alone. We keep a fast paced enviroment throughout the year and have high expectations for the work that will be performed. We are constantly checking to ensure the quality of work meets our standards and will happily teach you everything you need to know.
