Description We are recruiting for a Staff Accountant role in the Higher Education industry, located in the Hartford, Connecticut area. This role offers a short-term contract employment opportunity. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for a range of accounting duties, including month-end close, journal entries, reconciliation, and handling both accounts payable and receivable. Responsibilities:

Efficiently and accurately manage monthly close processes.

Prepare and record many types of journal entries.

Conduct detailed and thorough account reconciliations.

Process and manage accounts payable and receivable.

Handle payroll entries using ADP and Concur systems.

Utilize your skills in Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, and Month-End Close.

Ensure all accounting tasks are performed in compliance with industry's standards and regulations.

Requirements Possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Proven experience in a Staff Accountant role within a Higher Education setting is preferred. Proficiency in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is required. Demonstrable ability to perform Bank Reconciliations. Strong knowledge of General Ledger and Journal Entries. Experience in Month End Close procedures. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Commitment to adhere to all accounting standards and regulations.
