CDOR Values Description of JobDivision of Gaming:Ensures that limited gaming is conducted honestly, fairly, and competitively, and is free from criminal and corrupt elements.What we do:Administers new technologies in slot machines and associated equipment as these technologies relate to the gaming industry. This entails setting the policy direction that the Colorado Division of Gaming will take regarding whether a new technology will be allowed or prohibited in the Colorado limited gaming jurisdiction.A typical day in the life of an Administrator V:

Directly responsible for the Phase I testing of new technologies (see note below regarding Phase I explanation).

Additionally, this position provides supervision for Field Operations staff and provides guidance to two Compliance Investigator II's (team leaders) and five Compliance Investigators (field technicians) to maintain proper levels of competence and expertise in new technologies as these technologies relate to slot machines and associated gaming equipment.

Position also manages the Systems and Machine Approval Committee (SMAC), which entails ensuring the Division’s independent testing labs maintain test scripts that comply with the technical standards that this position has decided upon.

Primary Duties:Gaming Device Evaluation and Approval

Reviews the legality of proposed new technologies.

Reviews, analyzes, and inspects gaming devices submitted for approval in a lab setting as a member and Chair of the Systems and Machine Approval Committee (SMAC).

Creates and implements recommendations for amendments to rules, regulations, and Internal Control Minimum Procedures (ICMP) to address current inventory and advancements in gaming device technology.

Clarify Existing Rules and Regulations

Presents policy decisions to allow or prohibit specific gaming technologies to affected/interested parties on behalf of the Field Operations team and assists with gaming investigations.

Supervision

Oversees the work product of the Field Operations section, which includes but is not limited to, the conduct of investigations, the quality and accuracy of investigation reports, compliance monitoring and reports, and disciplinary actions.

Ensures the timely updating of work unit policies and procedures manuals and section strategic plan on an annual basis.

Ensures employees are cross trained as appropriate. Evaluates internal work processes and recommends and/or implement improvements. Monitors staff competence and job knowledge in new technologies, cheating methods, and requirements involving slot machines and associated equipment. Monitors staff for results related to field testing of new technologies in slot machine platforms and associated gaming equipment to determine compliance with applicable internal controls, rules, and regulations.

Education & Training

Provides training to the gaming industry, state agencies, the public, and Division staff regarding gaming device compliance and inspection procedures, previous and current technology and projected advancements, regulatory rule and procedure changes, compliance-related issues, and cheating techniques.

Resolves complaints/disputes initiated by the gaming public and licensees regarding gaming devices.

Additional experience in a gaming regulatory environment and have experience in the inspection of various types of electronic gaming devices and associated equipment.

Experence providing technical assistance to Table Games Committe (TGC) regarding table game equipment.

Demonstrated flexibility and ability to identify and handle simultaneous, competing priorities, often with minimal notice

Proven experience with agency budget, property.

Proven ability to engage with a diverse set of internal and extenal stakeholders.

Proficient in the use and operation of current gaming equipment validation tools.

Knowledge and understanding of gaming rules. regulation and Internal Control Minimum Procedures (ICMP).

Excellent written,communication and interpersonal skills.

Proven ability to work independently and accept supervision.

Demonstrated strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work in a flexible environment requiring change and accountability
