Staff in NREL’s Cybersecurity Research Center work to secure the energy transformation by leading cutting-edge, impactful cybersecurity research that enables scalable and quantifiable risk reduction for future energy systems. This position reports to the Center Director and provides support in operational and administrative aspects of running the Center efficiently, including coordinating the Center's Business Support team. This position requires a high degree of confidentiality for work performed, strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize multiple demands, and excellent interpersonal skills.The Business Support Professional creates, maintains and/or distributes a range of correspondence, reports, documentation, and processes with minimum supervision and oversight. This position has frequent interaction with internal and external collaborators, business partners, and colleagues. Duties entail the use of MS Office products: MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, so the Business Support Professional will need to demonstrate advanced proficiency in all these tools. The successful candidate will be comfortable learning and using multiple online electronic systems for finance, purchasing, travel, personnel management, etc.Responsibilities Include

Serving as a resource to staff on institutional processes, procedures, and requirements, and provide input and recommendations on organization-specific administrative practices

Acting as an intermediary between the Center Director and staff to enable the smooth flow and distribution of information

Interfacing effectively with the Center Leadership Team, the Center’s business support team, partner Centers, broader NREL management and staff, Department of Energy (DOE) management and staff, industry contacts and other key individuals and organizations

Attending weekly Center Leadership Team meetings and drafting notes

Proactively managing and/or monitoring multiple tasks and sources of information

Drafting correspondence for response to internal and external inquiries

Independently responding to and appropriately routing requests

Maintaining calendar(s) and scheduling meetings

Ensuring consistent administrative practices and adequate support coverage across the Center as leader of the Center's Business Support team

Preparing and maintaining electronic files as needed

Serving as the space coordinator for the Center

Following all Environment, Safety, Health and Quality policies and procedures to ensure and maintain a safe working environment

Following all NREL policies and procedures to ensure compliance with DOE orders and NREL requirements

Fulfilling additional duties as necessary

Note: This position will require regular in-person job duties and allows for a hybrid work environment. This role is not eligible for 100% remote optionsBasic QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent and 7 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Associate's Degree or certification program of comparable scope and 5 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date.Additional Required Qualifications

Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance at the Q/TS/SCI level. A polygraph may be required. Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. Extensive knowledge in specialized focused business support functions to include considerable project administration

A comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of business support activities, and their practical application to a wide variety of problems and situations specific to the discipline or field supported

Advanced skills in applicable software packages such as use of MS Office products: MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams and office equipment such as copiers

Broad knowledge of specific principles, procedures and practices related to supported fields and disciplines

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, team and interpersonal skills

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

Demonstrated ability to take initiative in proactively solving problems

Ability to efficiently prioritize duties, multitask and complete assignments with strict deadlines and deliver high-quality work

Sensitivity to working with confidential information

Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, team collaboration and communication skills
