We collaborate across the University to inspire and empower students to be active learners inside and outside the classroom, successful graduates, and engaged global citizens. We support student success through an array of services and resources including housing, dining, student orientation, recreation, student government, student organizations, and legal, career, transition, health, well-being, and crisis services. In addition to student services, we also connect with parents and families, host conferences and events, manage the Mountain Campus, provide professional development opportunities for staff, and partner with a number of businesses in the student center. The Division employs 800 career staff, 2,000 student and hourly staff, and manages a budget of over $150 million.Orientation & Transition Programs:Orientation and Transition Programs ( OTP ) creates dynamic, student-centered experiences to inspire purposeful transitions. Programs within OTP include orientation, welcome week, new student seminars, and programming designed for first-year, second-year, and new transfer students. Additionally, OTP places high value on student leadership and development and employs over 350 student leaders to implement these university-wide programs. Organizationally, OTP is part of the department called Orientation, Transition, and Family Programs which includes two other units – Fostering Success Program and Parent and Family Programs.Position SummaryThe Coordinator for Transition Programs (First-Year) in OTP provides coordination of post-summer orientation transition programming for first-year students (Ram Welcome, First 50 Days & Getting to Year 2 @ CSU ); assesses first-year transition programs; and supports recruitment, selection, training and supervision of student staff for first-year transition programs. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director, Transition Programs.Required Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Social Sciences, Applied Human Sciences, Liberal Arts or related field
One year of experience with student staff training and/or supervision
One year of experience programming for students in a higher education setting
Demonstrated experience and commitment to diversity and social justice with experience working with diverse populations across a breadth of diverse identities
Preferred Job Qualifications
Master’s Degree by start date in higher education administration, student affairs, social sciences, applied sciences or related fields
One year of graduate or professional experience with orientation and transition programming designed to increase student engagement, retention, and success
One-year graduate or professional experience in a higher education setting working directly with first-year students
Demonstrated experience and familiarity with best practices in first-year transition programming
Demonstrated experience with large-scale university-wide programs and initiatives
Knowledge of intersectional social justice frameworks and demonstrated application to programming, student staff training and/or supervision
Demonstrated awareness of issues facing students from historically minoritized groups, experience with developing programming for first-year students who hold marginalized identities
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing learning outcomes and program assessment
Demonstrated communication skills, including interpersonal communication, presentation, and facilitation and writing skills

Collaborate with Assistant Director, Transition Programs to provide coordination, leadership, and vision for post-summer orientation first-year transition programming by researching cutting-edge initiatives across the nation focused on first year transition and retention.
Collaborate with Orientation and Transition Programs staff and campus partners to implement first year programs including, but not limited to: Ram Welcome (Welcome Week), First 50 Days and Getting to Year 2 @ CSU .
Support the coordination of Ram Welcome (Welcome Week) events and programming, including supervising student staff, working with campus partners to coordinate joint events during Ram Welcome, and assessment and evaluation of the Ram Welcome program.
Coordinate Getting to Year 2 @ CSU , a program for first-year students in the second semester to assist students with learning about the service available to support their second year. Coordination includes all program logistics, marketing, assessment, and collaboration with campus partners.
Collaborate with campus partners and OTP staff to coordinate First 50 Days, a marketing campaign to assist new students with knowing what programs exist for them the first 8 weeks of the fall semester to enhance their engagement at CSU .
Engage in conversations regarding budget decisions and increases for transition programming for first-year students with the Assistant Director, Transition Programs.
Collaborate on maintaining and updating websites and social media outlets designed and utilized for first year student engagement.
Plan, implement, and collaborate on marketing efforts and publications for first year transition programs including website content management, design and coordinating all print publications.
Develop and implement learning outcomes, assessment and evaluation methods and data reporting structure for programs.

Select, train, directly supervise and evaluate 1 Student Coordinator, 1 Ram Welcome Staff Specialist, and 8-10 Ram Welcome Event Assistants. Direct supervision of staff includes regular meetings to provide and receive feedback.
Supervise and train 20-25 Orientation Leaders working Ram Welcome who supervise 100-300 Ram Welcome Leaders. Coordinate the recruitment and hiring process for Ram Welcome Leaders and Ram Welcome Event Assistants.
The Coordinator is responsible for creating and facilitating the training curriculum for student staff that includes working with diverse populations, diversity and social justice frameworks, facilitation and communication skills, campus resources, customer service and more.
Manage budget for Ram Welcome student staff expenses including staff training and recruitment, hourly wages, etc.
Plan, implement, and collaborate on marketing efforts for student staff recruitment including website content management, design and coordination of print publications.

In conjunction with the Assistant Director, develop partnerships, relationships, and collaborations with academic affairs and student affairs to facilitate and enhance the resources and services provided to first-year students related to their transition.
Conduct presentations across campus and in the Colorado community regarding the first-year student experience at Colorado State University.
