Description of JobUnder the guidance of the Director of Facilities and the Director of CommunityMuseums, the Adobe Maintenance Manager will serve History Colorado’s Community Museum network and will be responsible for coordinating and managing all aspects of adobe maintenance, repair and restoration.This position will work collaboratively with all appropriate internal divisions (Community Museum Operations, Collections, Exhibits and Interpretation, Education, Event Rentals etc.) on programming and operational needs. The Adobe Maintenance Manager will work as a team member in the following areas and expected to take direct responsibility for the organization, coordination, and successful operations of the areas assigned.Job Duties:

Oversees the maintenance and restoration efforts for History Colorado’s 9 adobe structures. This includes creating and maintaining an annual adobe maintenance schedule that will ensure preservation as well as reduce annual operating costs and future capital expenditures.

Regularly completes adobe plaster maintenance in order to prevent additional damage and to prevent failure.

Collaborates with Community Museum Site Directors to determine site specific adobe needs based on exhibits, events, tours, educational and community programing.

Plans and implements comprehensive adobe maintenance strategies for each site

Creates and maintains relationships with local adobe contractors

Regularly conducts community workshops and programming to educate the public on adobe maintenance methods to allow youth, volunteers, and homeowners as well a better understanding of adobe as a building method and as a part of Colorado’s history.

Keeps records of all adobe repairs, maintenance, methodology.

Attends adobe educational programs and professional development opportunities as it relates to the position.

Responsible for increasing the aesthetic of the adobe buildings, reducing safety and utilities costs, and encouraging a better overall experience for patrons.

Other facilities maintenance items as needed in order to maintain History Colorado’s Community Museum network.

The Ideal Candidate has:

An ability to think outside the box, the ability to communicate effectively, and ability to solve problems proactively and take direction.

Willingness to jump in and help the Facilities Department or any of the Community Museums with duties as needed as a part of a team.

Strong management and organizational skills.

Experience using technical equipment such as computers, printers.

Proficiency in email communication, Google Suite, Adobe Acrobat, MS office tools especially Word and Excel.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

High school diploma required.

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, historic preservation, architecture or similar preferred.

Proven 3 years of experience in Adobe, Plaster, Stucco, Clay, Historic Preservation, Facilities Maintenance, Project Manager, or a similar role.

Additional requirements for this position:

Overnight travel throughout the state.

Valid Colorado driver’s license.

Successful candidate must pass a criminal history background check prior to hire.
