Hiring Range is $40,352 - $45,424 annually based on qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position.

(Full Time, Non-Exempt)

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Mary Carter Greenway Supervisor and/or Lead Maintenance Specialist on the Mary Carter Greenway, this position is responsible for learning and performing the various skills that are associated with all aspects of greenway maintenance, including open space, irrigation, shrub and tree care and facility maintenance.

Essential Duties:

Performs all cultural maintenance practices inherent to maintaining open space including mowing, fertilization, and irrigation.

Assists in maintenance of tree and shrub care, including plantings, removals, weed/pest control, pruning, and shrub bed maintenance.

Perform trash and recyclables removal operations. Clean and clear park grounds and facilities of litter and debris, operation of a trash/recyclable’s removal truck, common hand tools, installation and removal of waste receptacles and dog waste station maintenance.

Maintain public shelter facilities including roof repair, picnic table repair, trash receptacle repair, stocking of supplies, painting, staining, restroom cleaning and sanitizing.

Assist with the inspection of greenway irrigation systems and drinking fountains as needed and assist with skilled maintenance including irrigation repairs to mainlines, valves, laterals, heads and pumps.

Assist staff with District sponsored events, making deliveries of materials and supplies necessary to meet the requests of facility rentals and work orders. Set up and disassembly of event tents, tables, picnic benches and chairs.

Assist with the documentation and routine inspection and repairs to play equipment within the district playgrounds.

Ensure proper care of assigned tools and equipment, perform maintenance on small equipment and notify appropriate personnel of need for tool, equipment or vehicle maintenance service or repairs.

Maintains, operates, and cares for assigned hand tools and equipment including trenchers, pickup truck, trailer, skid steer, stump grinder, compressor, small engines, etc. Maintains and routinely inventories parts and materials used while performing maintenance duties.

Using District watering equipment provide supplemental watering to new plantings.

Complete daily activity reports and records as required. This position may require attendance and involvement in meetings on project progress, safety, park maintenance practices, procedural changes and other topics related to the operations of the District.

Perform snow and ice removal using plow trucks, blowers, shovels, ice scrappers, de-icing salt, etc.

Respond tactfully, respectfully and in a timely fashion to inquiries and problems in person, by email, phone and mail providing helpful information and explanations in-line with District policies and procedures. Handle confrontational or stressful interactions.

Attend and participate in staff meetings, trainings and, orientations.

Attend work on a regular, reliable, and punctual basis.

May be required to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and be on snow watch as well as work shifts deviating from this position’s normal workdays and/or with other work groups.

Education and/or Experience:

Must be eighteen (18) years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Any combination equivalent to one (1) years progressive skilled labor experience that is inherent to park or related grounds maintenance with an emphasis on open space care, installation and maintenance of irrigation systems, playground equipment, park facilities, urban forestry, and horticulture.

Snow and ice removal experience preferred.

Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements:

Must possess a valid Colorado Driver License or the ability to obtain upon hire and maintain an acceptable driving record.
