Therefore, we encourage responses from people of diverse backgrounds and abilities.Description of JobABOUT THE WORK UNIT: The purpose of the Clean Water Compliance Unit is to provide compliance assistance and assurance services to regulated entities so they can comply with various water quality related laws, regulations and permits that protect public health and the environment. Assurance activities include conducting stormwater inspections to assess facilities adherence to water quality regulations and policies. Assistance activities include creation of guidance documents, offering presentations and trainings, responding to calls and emails regarding stormwater management best practicesDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:Provide technical support to the Clean Water Compliance Unit staff, work group leads and the unit manager with various technical tasks. Technical tasks include:

Creating inspection prioritization spreadsheets on a monthly basis

Updating the unit’s ArcGIS map.

Oversee the quality control of the unit’s Microsoft Access database. The unit staff collect and store information about inspections conducted in the database.

Perform QA/ QC checks of inspector’s data on a monthly basis and works with the inspectors directly to keep the database up to date and accurate.

The Clean Water Compliance Unit routinely receives complaints about activities that may violate state or local water quality regulations. This position researches, documents and tracks all complaints received by the unit with the help of their unit manager, and communicates the complaint information to the appropriate authorities.

The Clean Water Compliance Unit establishes an annual inspection plan that guides the unit’s work. This position has a role in that planning, such as categorizing permits by type and location to help establish inspection goals.

Sorts through information from each compliance unit inspector and collaborates with unit leadership to help with work tracking and meeting goals of the unit.

Contribute administrative support to the Clean Water Compliance Unit staff, work group leads and the unit manager with various office management tasks. Administrative support includes:

Catalogue and maintain SOPs, templates and documents utilized by the unit.

Manages record keeping of complaints, spills, enforcement actions referrals, and inspection reports.

Ordering supplies, helping with registrations for trainings and conferences, and scheduling.

Coordinate registration for trainings and conferences.

Involved in the unit’s fleet vehicle oversight. This includes handling the unit’s fleet vehicle calendar and attending division fleet vehicle meetings to understand vehicle mileage usage needs and fleet vehicle maintenance issues.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal RightsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Four (4) years of compliance experience that demonstrated skill in providing support to a manager or program and in designing and managing processes and procedures. Experience that provided knowledge and skill in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as database software is preferred. Experience must be thoroughly documented on your application.SUBSTITUTIONS:At the discretion of the hiring agency college, university or non-correspondence business school course work may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the general experience.COVER LETTER REQUIRED:Along with the application, a cover letter is required .
