CommonSpirit operates more than 2,200 care sites and 140 hospitals, serving some of the most diverse communities across the nation, letting humankindness lead the way.Overview:The Region Vice President of Nursing Operations and Professional Development is responsible for daily operational support throughout the region overseeing region professional governance, throughput and operational excellence/performance, nursing productivity and financial management, student nurse programs, centralized staffing and scheduling, and may serve as an interim facility Chief Nursing Officer as needed and/or assumes delegated responsibilities from the Region Chief Nursing Officer. This role ensures operational efficiency, workforce optimization, and high-quality nursing care across the region. The VP collaborates with Market CNOs, hospital nursing executives, and cross-functional teams to drive strategic initiatives, standardize policies, and improve nursing outcomes. This position plays a key role in staffing optimization, professional development, and nursing quality initiatives, ensuring alignment with regional and system-wide goals.Qualifications:In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
Registered Nurse(RN) active license in the state of employment; compact license required.
MS in Nursing; if Master’s Degree is not in Nursing, then must possess a Bachelor’sDegree in Nursing and Master’s in a related field (ie. MHA, MBA, etc).
Minimum of ten (10) years of healthcare experience.
Minimum of ten (10) years of direct people leadership experience in progressive management roles.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an executive and/or Chief Nurse in diverse settings including hospital or healthcare system is preferred.
Minimum of ten (10) years of clinical practice with a sound knowledge of clinical nursing with a breadth of all areas of patient care management and quality enhancement preferred.
Excellent business skills management suitable for diverse settings including rural, community, and complex tertiary level patient care setting.
Certified as a healthcare executive preferred.
Expertise in healthcare regulations, financial acumen, excellent comunication and relationship building abilities, and a deep understanding of nursing operations and quality improvement methodologies.
