Tattoo Shop Manager
Job Purpose
The Tattoo Shop Manager oversees daily studio operations, ensuring smooth business functions, compliance with health and safety standards, excellent client experiences, and strong support for artists and staff.
Key Responsibilities
1. Studio Operations & Administration
Open and close the shop, maintaining cleanliness, organization, and a professional atmosphere.
Manage appointment scheduling systems (walk-ins, phone, email, and via social media platforms).
Process daily sales, deposits, and oversee POS systems and cash handling.
Handle supply ordering, inventory management, and vendor relationships.
Maintain shop records, contracts, insurance paperwork, and assist with financial reporting.
Coordinate special events, promotions, or guest artist residencies.
2. Staff & Artist Support
Oversee schedules for tattoo artists, apprentices, and front desk staff.
Manage payroll, timesheets, and commission payouts.
Support artists by handling booking, paperwork, and client communication.
Recruit, train, and onboard new staff or apprentices.
Promote a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.
3. Client Experience & Booking
Greet and assist clients, providing clear information on services, pricing, aftercare, and policies.
Manage consultations and act as the primary point of contact between clients and artists.
Oversee consent forms, ID verification, and age compliance.
Handle complaints or concerns with professionalism and discretion.
Manage appointment requests through Instagram, email, and phone; send confirmations, reminders, and follow-ups.
4. Compliance & Safety
Ensure shop compliance with local/state health department regulations and licensing requirements.
Maintain sterilization standards, safety certifications, and cleaning logs.
Oversee biohazard disposal and safety procedures.
Stay updated on industry health and safety best practices.
Skills & Qualifications
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Knowledge of tattoo industry practices and culture.
Understanding of health and safety compliance in tattoo/piercing environments.
Experience with scheduling software, POS systems, and digital communication platforms.
